About Temperature Units

Common Units:

  • Celsius (°C): Water freezes at 0°C and boils at 100°C at standard pressure
  • Fahrenheit (°F): Water freezes at 32°F and boils at 212°F at standard pressure

Scientific Units:

  • Kelvin (K): Absolute temperature scale where 0K is absolute zero (-273.15°C)
  • Rankine (°R): Absolute temperature scale where 0°R is absolute zero (0°R = 0K, but uses Fahrenheit-sized degrees)

Temperature units are used in various fields including weather forecasting, cooking, science, and engineering. Different regions of the world use different temperature scales for everyday measurements.

Conversion Formulas:

  • Celsius to Fahrenheit: °F = (°C × 9/5) + 32
  • Fahrenheit to Celsius: °C = (°F - 32) × 5/9
  • Celsius to Kelvin: K = °C + 273.15
  • Kelvin to Rankine: °R = K × 9/5
  • Fahrenheit to Rankine: °R = °F + 459.67
